Generally, to keep costs down, short track ice blade manufacturers batch grind the steel quickly. The heat from this process warps the steel and makes bending the blades a difficult process. The Ultrasprint is ground slowly with highly specialized grinding wheels to avoid excess heat. This slow process creates a perfectly straight piece of steel without warping.

After grinding, a normal short track blade is inserted into the tube for gluing. Before gluing the Ultrasprint undergoes a specialized polishing process called 'brilliance polishing'. This gives the steel a very highly polished finish for better glide.

When the steel is glued into the slot in the tube, there is a gap between the steel and the tube to allow room for the glue. This gap allows the steel to warp. The Ultrasprint is glued in a jig that holds the blade in the tube while the glue dries. Each blade takes 8 hours for the glue to set so it is an extremely slow process but the end result is a perfect blade.

The Bont short track Ultrasprint blade uses a high end Japanese steel that is easy to sharpen, maintains a very good edge and has a fine grain structure for exceptional glide.

Short Track Ultrasprint Ice Blade

The Bont Ultrasprint blades have adjustable mounts and can be used with short track boots (165mm) or inline boots (195mm). These are great for any skater that wants to do both short track ice speedskating and inline speedskating! Short Track boots have a 165mm mount separation (or 150mm for kids boots under size 35EU). Inline boots have a 195mm mount separation (or 165mm for kids boots under size 38EU).

Short Track Ultrasprint Ice Blade

Perfect for inliners who want to get on short track. It was a little tricky to get them mounted, and I didn’t see any helpful instructions in the box. However, that’s the only problem I encountered. They even came sharpened.
