内側から外側へ、手作業でスケートをつくり上げる。Bontが受け継ぎ、強い誇りを持つ製法です。他の製法と比べて高度な技術と多くの時間を必要としますが、Bontのスケートが性能面で業界をリードするための大切な要素です。一方で、一般的な製法よりも製造コストは高くなります。

高品質な製品をよりよい形でお届けするため、製造工程の開発と改良を続けています。例えば、カーボンの硬化に使っていた一般的な真空ボックスは、別の方法に置き換えました。現在は、加圧ラッピングなどの方法を採用しています。従来の真空成形では1気圧ですが、加圧ラッピングでは4気圧をかけることができます。

Bontは、他社製品を上回る軽さと強度を誇りにしています。そのため、ラスト（プラスチック製の靴型）の周囲にカーボンやグラスファイバーを手で積層し、内側から外側へとブーツを手作業でつくり上げています。一般的なスケートブーツの製法と比べて非常に時間がかかりますが、この方法が軽さを支えています。

ラストとは、ブーツを製作する際に使う、足の形を再現したプラスチック製の靴型です。

Bontでは1975年からラストの改良を重ねており、その取り組みは今も続いています。多くのメーカーが使う標準的なラストとは異なり、Bontは箱から出してすぐにフィットするブーツを目指して、ラストの開発と改良に取り組んでいます。

ラストの設計

Bontのクワッドローラースケートは、かかとの形に沿ったヒールカップにより安定性を高め、蹴り出す力をよりしっかりと伝えます。機械的な操作や、ストラップ・シューレースの過度な締め付けに頼らずにかかとを安定させるため、快適性と血行にも配慮できます。ヒールカップ全体が熱成形に対応し、足に合うフィット感へ調整できます。

かかとの形に沿ったヒールカップ

従来のクワッドローラースケートは、ドレスシューズのような形状を採用しています。見た目は美しいものの、足指や中足骨の周辺を締め付けすぎることがあります。その結果、中足骨の間の神経が圧迫され、いわゆる「ホットフット」と呼ばれる、足が焼けるように熱く感じる症状につながることがあります。

Bontは足の構造に沿った形状により、足が自然で効率よく力を発揮できる位置に収まるよう設計しています。また、すべてのブーツが熱成形に対応しているため、ご自身の足に合うフィット感へ調整できます。

足の形に沿った前足部の形状

Bont独自のAnti-Stretch素材は、Kevlarに似た強度特性を備えています。ブーツの外側の層と肌の間にこの素材を組み込み、ブーツの伸びを抑えています。

素材がずれないように外側の層へ縫い付け、ライナーにも接着しています。つまり、Anti-Stretch素材そのものがブーツの構造の一部になります。そのため、Bontブーツは他社のブーツと比べて伸びにくくなっています。

ブーツの伸びを抑える補強素材

Bontブーツに適した素材を選ぶため、何百種類ものライナーを検討しました。採用しているのは、マイクロファイバー、スエード調素材、Duroliteです。持続可能性と動物福祉に配慮し、ヴィーガン対応の素材を使用しています。軽くて耐久性があり、においを抑え、汗でも劣化しにくいライナーです。

Bontは45年以上にわたり、樹脂の開発に取り組んできました。非常に高い剛性を持ちながら、低温で成形できる樹脂を独自に配合しています。また、当社の製造では短い硬化時間も重要です。ブーツメーカーの中で、樹脂を自社開発している企業はごくわずかです。

当社の樹脂は、業界最低水準のわずか60°C（140°F）で軟化します。必要に応じて何度でも再加熱できるため、ブーツを温めて足の形に合わせやすいのが特長です。加熱後は形を整え、冷えて固まるまで待つことで、自分の足に合った形状を作れます。

エポキシ（ポリエポキシド）は、触媒や硬化剤と混ぜると硬化する、熱硬化性のエポキシドポリマーです。当社は、温度と樹脂・硬化剤の組み合わせによって、硬化と呼ばれる重合反応を制御しています。この工程には数分から数時間かかります。

樹脂に加える硬化剤の量は、気温や湿度によって大きく変わります。そのため、当社ではコンピューター制御で樹脂と硬化剤を混合しています。気温と湿度を測定してから、配合した樹脂を供給する仕組みです。

多くのメーカーは、カーボンファイバーにあらかじめ樹脂を含浸させる、プリプレグと呼ばれる方法を採用しています。

プリプレグでは、ほとんどの場合、カーボンファイバーのメーカーが樹脂を選びます。いわば、さまざまな用途に同じ仕様を使う方式です。ブーツメーカー側では、現代のブーツに求められる熱成形性に合わせて樹脂を調整できません。そのため、多くの他社製ブーツでは、熱成形に高い温度が必要です。それでも成形できる範囲が限られることがあります。

Once I received them I tried them out that evening. I found that they were a bit stiff in places so I did the heat molding process as directed by the web site and it worked perfectly. They fit great and feel great. The wheels took no time to break in and with the heat molding there is no boot break in. I really enjoy how light weight they are as well. Once I can I will definitely be adding the zebra print set to my collection and im a Royal Assassin fan for life now. I was a little nervous about them as this was the most I had ever put into skates but they do not disappoint.
